Sarasota, Fla., Aug. 27 (UPI) — You may need a lot of cash for your next move.
But if you’re interested in becoming a Sarasota realtor, you may want to know that the city has a lot to offer.
“We have some great opportunities for people who are interested in buying a home in Sarasotas market,” said Lisa Mascia, Sarasota city administrator.
“It’s not cheap, but we have a lot going for us.”
As Sarasota continues to lose its once-booming residential market, the city’s real estate market is booming.
A recent survey by the Sarasota Real Estate Association (SREA) shows Sarasota is the eighth-largest home market in the United States, and the largest in Florida.
Sarasotas population is expected to grow by over 1.8 million by 2025.
Sarasota also is on track to overtake Los Angeles and San Francisco as the largest city in the U.S. in terms of population, according to SREA.
In Sarasota alone, more than 6,700 properties are available for sale, and there are more than 600,000 residents in Sarasottas city limits, according, according SREI.
Sarreas real estate industry has been thriving since the late 1800s, when an area that once included a rail line was formed.
In 1926, the town became a major producer of lumber and cement, as well as a hub for the burgeoning rail industry.
Today, Sarasotans have a vibrant real estate scene that includes upscale neighborhoods, boutique and luxury condominiums, and an influx of artists and cultural institutions.
SREAs website lists more than 50 companies offering real estate services in the area.
“There are so many different types of property and types of developers that are offering residential real estate,” Mascie said.
“There are all kinds of different kinds of developers.
There are people who have a desire to get into Sarasotan real estate.
There is a large number of individuals who are looking for that type of opportunity.”
It’s hard to find an affordable place to live in Sarasots real estate community, however, Mascies office has seen a large influx of new residents from other states, such as New York, New Jersey and Texas.
“People are coming to Sarasotts from across the country,” Miscia said.
“I think people want to make Sarasota a destination and I think people are coming here to Sarasota because it’s affordable.”
For anyone who has never been to Sarasottes city limits or wants to, the real estate agent recommends booking a tour of Sarasota by the end of August, before the first wave of new construction begins.
“A lot of people who do the tour want to see the city for themselves first, so they go and do the walk-through tours,” Miscalia said, adding that it can take between two and three weeks to see Sarasotams real estate development.
“If you do that tour, you can actually see the real-estate development as it happens, not just when the construction is happening,” Mocca said.
