Juventus are set to use the ball a lot more in their defence this season, but how they will do so is yet to be seen.
The Bianconeri have a lot of experience with their attacking players playing in a wide area, but they do not seem to be a team who are comfortable with this in a central position.
They were at their most efficient with the ball in their hands last season and the defence looked solid at times.
With Mario Mandzukic back in the starting XI, however, they will have more freedom to work in more creative zones.
“We want to have the ball at the back,” Zidane told the club’s official website.
“With Mandzakic back, we want to take advantage of it.”
In the centre of defence, Zidanes team will probably be a bit different to last season, with Simone Zaza likely to start as a central midfielder.
This will allow the likes of Daniele De Rossi to start, but it will also allow Miralem Pjanic to move into the centre and work in the role of a defensive midfielder.
He may be tempted to start on the right wing, but with Zidani at the helm, he will have the freedom to move to the other side if necessary.
The defensive midfielder position will probably remain unchanged this season with the likes the likes David Silva and Juan Cuadrado starting on the left.
In midfield, there are two potential candidates to fill the role in Zidan Ibrahimovic, but Juventus have also already made changes to their backline with the signing of Christian Abbiati.
The midfielder is a versatile player who can play as a striker, a centre-back or a defensive player.
With the addition of the young striker, Juve may be able to experiment with him a little further forward.
A new attacking tactic to counter Real Madrid has been proposed by the Italian club.
With Zidano in charge, Juves are set for a new way of playing football.
The most important part is to have a very good idea of the opponent’s intentions and the situation of the game.
This is what is needed in the new tactical situation Juventus face.
“It’s difficult to predict, but we know that the new game will be a very dangerous one, but the team will have a strong spirit,” Zadar said.
“The team will be strong and hungry for the victory, but will also be focused on attacking the goal.
We want to achieve that by giving everything we have to defend.
We have to be aggressive in our possession and create chances.”
As long as Juve remain unbeaten, the new tactics will be part of their DNA.
